By air:

Cardiff International Airport

  • By train: shuttle bus service to Rhoose Cardiff International Airport rail station, and by train to Cardiff Central train station.

By road: directions from Cardiff airport to the city centre:

Turn right out of the airport, take the third exit on the roundabout, signposted M4, Barry. At the next roundabout take the first exit onto Port Road. After about half a mile you will come to another roundabout: take the second exit onto Port road – the A4226. At the next roundabout take the second exit again and stay on the A4226. In a mile, there is another roundabout, take the first exit onto the A4050 and stay on it for a mile and a half, until the next roundabout, where you take the first exit, staying on the A4050. At the next roundabout take the first exit, staying on the A4050. Take the second exit at the next roundabout, staying on the A4050. Take the second exit at the next roundabout, and stay on the A4050. At the next roundabout, take the first exit, and stay on the A4050. Then at the next roundabout, take the second exit on to the A4050.

At the Culverhouse Cross Roundabout, take the third exit onto the A48 and continue on into the city centre. At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto the A4161, signposted city centre. Stay on this road for just under two miles, and you will be on Castle Street, next to Cardiff Castle, and in the city centre. Takes approx. 30 minutes

Bristol Airport

From Bristol airport to Cardiff:
Get a connecting bus to Bristol Temple Meads train station and a train to Cardiff Central. Or get a coach from Bristol airport direct to Cardiff, or hire a car at Bristol airport.

By road directions from Bristol airport to Cardiff city centre:

Take the second exit at the roundabout out of the airport, at the next roundabout take the first exit onto the A38, and at the next roundabout take the second exit to remain on the A38. At the next roundabout take the second exit, signposted ‘City Centre’, to stay on the A38. Continue for about a mile, then turn left onto the A3029. At the next roundabout take the second exit to remain on the A3029.

Take the second exit on the next two roundabouts, remaining on the A3029. Then keep in the left hand lane and continue forward, and merge onto the A3029. Branch left onto the A4, which is signposted ‘Avonmouth, M5’. Bear left onto the A4. At the Portway roundabout, take the second exit, and join the M49 motorway. At the next roundabout take the first exit and join the M4 motorway. After three minutes you will come to the toll for the Second Severn Crossing.

Stay on the M4 into Wales for about 20 miles. Leave the M4 at junction 29, where you join the A48(M) motorway. Continue onto the A48, branch left and merge onto the A48. Follow the signs and come off at the roundabout where it is signposted for ‘Cardiff City Centre, Cardiff Airport, University Hospital’.

At the roundabout as you exit the A48 take the second exit onto the A470, signposted ‘City Centre’. Continue forward, following signs for ‘City Centre’. Continue forward through several sets of traffic lights, follow the road as it continues onto the A4161, signposted Cardiff station, city centre. The road turns to the right, and you will be on Castle Street, in front of Cardiff Castle.

By Bus:
From Cardiff Central train station to Cardiff International Pool: Bus numbers 9 and 9A go from the city centre to pool. You can get on at Cardiff Central Bus station in the centre of town. For more information, go to www.cardiffbus.com or contact Traveline on the number below.

By Car:
From Castle street, in the centre of Cardiff:
Go from the castle towards the Holiday Inn, go over the bridge, crossing the River Taff. Turn left at the traffic lights, go straight across the roundabout until you are on the A4119 (Clare Road). At the traffic lights, turn right onto Penarth Road (A4160). Stay on it until you get to a big roundabout. Take the second left, for the A4232 towards Cardiff Bay. Stay on for one junction, then take the third exit. Take the first left, the next right and you will be driving past the pool. At the roundabout take the first left, and then take a right into the car park.
